MARCHING OR CONCERT PERCUSSION

ELIGIBILITY: All performers must be members of one school’s student body. “Guest” directors may not direct the group and directors may not perform with the group.

SELECTIONS AND PERFORMANCE TIME: All groups should perform 2-3 compositions of the director’s choice. There is no required music list. Marching Percussion may perform from a standstill position.

PERFORMANCE TIME: Total time for set-up, warm-up, performance and exit is not to exceed 15 minutes.

CONCERT PERCUSSION: You shall furnish 1 original conductor’s score with measures numbered for each selection adjudicated. Chimes, xylophone, four timpani, concert bass drum, and music stands will be provided. Instruments other than percussion may accompany the ensemble. The percussion ensemble, however, must be featured.

MARCHING PERCUSSION: No music scores are required for the judges in this event. No equipment will be supplied.

JUDGING: A panel of three judges will adjudicate the performance, offering written and cassette tape comments. No clinics are given in Marching or Concert Percussion categories.
